Welcome to the TBC Blog this Remembrance Day.

I always find November 11th such a powerful day and reflect throughout the day things I am grateful for and send out lots of prayers and blessings to our soldiers and their families. I pray for Peace God Willing.

My Friend, Cynthia, wrote a great blog for Remembrance Day. See it here.

A writer Friend of mine, Angela, is the TBC Bloggee today and wrote the following:

“364 days, 23 hours and 59 minutes of each year we hope for life’s little luxuries…and we are asked to only give 1 minute of our time back in remembrance.  That seems like a small price to pay?!?! Only 1 minute of 1 day out of 1 whole year; while members of our armed forces risk lifetime after lifetime to fight the battles of our world.  Today, serves as a reminder to remember the lives lost, the freedoms gained and the memories we have in honour of our Veterans and Soldiers.

Remembrance Day also reminds me of something very profound and something that is often taken for granted; how little is expected of the general population when it comes to our Country’s protection. We all go on living day by day complaining about the weather or our TV show being a rerun, when at the same time as we lay our heads to rest, another head ponders what tomorrow will bring at war, or whether their spouse will ever return or whether their son is sleeping safely tonight.  This year, I will be sure to reflect and appreciate more frequently because that is honestly the least I could do. Take today to be mindful for what you have and what you have lost.  I think of my family in the armed forces and their “family away from home” with whom they live and fight each day. I appreciate and am humbled by their dedication and devotion.

Hi Everyone.

I hope this blogs finds you all well and happy. I apologize for the tardiness in my writing.

I was thinking today about how sometimes life is really good and you don’t really know it when you are in it but then when you think back to it you think “wow”.

When I was in public school (up to grade 6) I had a wonderful friend. Her name was Nancy and she had some cool french last name that I can’t spell. I was thinking of her today and I was thinking how much fun she was to be around. Well I’m hoping she was and it wasn’t just the fringe benefits in her Dad. Well not him personally but what he did for a living.

Back way when we didn’t have as many things or as many treats like they do now that’s for sure. I remember my sister when I was young giving me such a hard time as she said that I was treated better and received anything I wanted (I was the youngest)  but I don’t remember it to be like that. My sister’s line was “All I ever got was a lime (and she stressed the word like “LIIIIMMMMMEEEE“) green ski jacket”. If it were today we both would want one.  I totally love my sister so don’t get me wrong. This is just old funny stuff I remember.

Back to Nancy. So picture this. Nancy’s dad worked for a gumball company that filled those machines. You would go in her basement and there would be hundreds of open huge boxes of gumballs. Every colour and shape imaginable.  Each bag had a plastic bag in it that wrapped around the box. It was a bit creepy downstairs but let’s see “creepy” vs.  “gumballs”, I’ll take the gumballs.

I don’t remember playing with her much at “my” house. Not sure how I always got her to allow me to go there and I wonder if she ever felt used. It reminded me again of the first boy I fell in love with. I think his last name was Fortune. That’s one happening last name. “Sharon Fortune”  I’d like that. Maybe I’ll change my name.

You have to wonder what happened to all the people from the past. Maybe one day I’ll try and find Nancy on Facebook and we can chat again. Hey maybe even Nancy works for the gumball place now and her house has a basement full of candy!

Hello my Friends. Welcome.

This blog is a little bit of a reflective one.

I met someone a couple of weeks ago and she has touched me yet I didn’t really even know her.

I went to a get together at Arianna’s in Oshawa and I had my pink roots purse. When I walked in Irene said to a lady at her shop “Check out Sharon’s purse”. This woman’s name was Pat. I talked to her briefly, had a chuckle with her and then spoke to her again at the end of the night when she was buying her own pink purse. Her energy was lovely and she was very kind.

Last Thursday when I went to Psychic Night I found out that this lovely lady Pat had passed over in a car accident a few days after we met. A drunk driver.

Even though I didn’t really know her I have felt this overwhelming sense of loss.

I have since read in the newspaper that she was an amazing woman. She spent her life dedicated to making the world a better place. A teacher, a Mother, a Green Party member, the list went on and on. What will the world be like when we have lost someone so special?

Hello Dear Friends. How are you this lovely day.

If you are like me you may always be looking around for something to do for fun that will make you some money on the side. A side business of sorts. I love MLM but I’m not into making people take supplements.

Something made me go into a store the other day and there was a guy there who was talking about Send Out Cards.

I totally loved the idea. I usually buy the perfect card for an arm and a leg and put it somewhere, lose it, have to buy another usually on my way to the party…..you get my drift. I even bought a perfect card for a friend one day but her birthday was months away so I sent it anyway because I knew I was going to lose it. My friends expect weirdness from me.

With Send Out Cards you do everything on line. You design the cards, they make up the card, put it in the envelope with your own handwriting if you want and stick a stamp on it and mail it away. You just wait for whomever you sent it to to get it in the mail. How totally cool is that?

The price is minimal (of course you have to pay for the stamp) and its fun and easy to do.

The neat part about it is that you can download your own pictures. I’m having a total blast. I even took a picture of one of the ladies in the booth beside me and I made it into a card and sent it to her thanking her for the fun time.  Two seconds, 93 cents (plus stamp) and I know she will talk about that for days and remember me forever. Hopefully she’s not reading this and it will be a surprise.

The business possibilities are infinite. Personal touch goes a long way especially nowadays when everything is so computerized.

I was going to just sign up for the one for my own use but when I started reading about all the wonderful things it does I couldn’t resist to go for the Entepreneur Package. Plus when I find something good I blab everywhere so I thought why not. There’s money to be made for the right person. I can think of about 250 businesses that would benefit from this. Christmas cards, reminder cards, etc., etc….

I’ve been here all night making up funny pictures and searching all the cards for friends that I have addresses for and sending them out. I had so much fun.

You can set up all your dates and addresses so you get reminders and you will never miss a birthday or occasion again. You can even set up your whole year and have them sent. Can you imagine?

The company is a good one. They are really into the law of attraction and the benefits of keeping in touch and sharing. Gotta love it.

P.S. For some reason my visa wasn’t going through when I was trying to register and finally it got through and guess what my ID number is…..are you ready……58887. Can you imagine? “888” How abundant is that? I knew it was meant to be. That and when I was at a spiritualist church meeting the other day the Elder that was doing readings said that my Mom was standing behind me waiving greeting cards. It’s always fun to have an inside edge on things.

Hi Everyone!

So I’m at the Screamworks and guess what there is no one there to do readings on. Tons of kids. So I was patient, I really was. I read two books, did some studying for my classes. Bobby ditched me the first day because he couldn’t take it but I was patient that was until about 3pm today. I was reading the book “The Science of Success” by Wallace D. Wattles and it said “”God, the One Substance, is trying to live and do and enjoy things through humanity. He is saying “I want hands to build wonderful structures, to play divine harmonies, to paint glorious pictures; want feet to run my errands, eyes to see my beauties, tongues to tell mighty truths and to sing marvelous songs.”

Now I might have been using this as my excuse but I thought I really don’t think I’m using my time wisely by sitting here when no one is coming to get readings. It was totally freezing too because they had the door open and I’m not good with cold. I called my brother who came and rescued me and I left. I felt somewhat guilty that I didn’t give it a full chance but the thought of just going home and enjoying my weekend overcame me.

Notwithstanding that the show was an expensive wash for me I did take some pictures and my friend Cynthia showed me how to do this cool slide show thing. Hopefully it works for you. Check out the orbs. Too cool.

So I was standing in my laundry room this morning not wanting to think about why I got the messy gene and I burst into song which isn’t always pretty especially when Janis Joplin jumps in my head.

I just can’t seem to get the wiggly voice thing going but I was trying hard. I’m not sure why she popped into my head, maybe it was because it was this month that she passed 38 years ago. Can you believe it?

I have to tell you about my find which kind of leads into my addiction and other funny stories.

I totally love Raggedy Ann’s. Always have, always will.

….Oh just wait a little memory is surfacing here when I write this. The first time my husband kissed me many moons ago he said “I love you Sharon, I always have, I always will”. I thought it so romantic. Well that was until I watched Braveheart and I realized he got it from the movie. He denies it to this day. He said it was spontaneous.

Oh sorry back to my addiction.

So last Saturday I was finishing up my readings for the day and had a little walk around Bowmanville.  This  is usually a mistake because I find all sorts of neat things to buy and the money I made for readings goes back into stuff I don’t need. This day was different because I found something I truly needed.

As words cannot give her justice here’s a picture of her.

Is she not the most beautiful thing you have ever seen? She was made by my favorite Raggedy Ann maker of all times Jenn from Primitives by Jenn.

When I go to a show and Jenn has a spot there I stand in the middle of her booth in awe. Bobby usually has to drag me out or buy me something to get me to go.

Here’s a picture of  two other Raggedy Ann’s she made that I received as gifts.

My sister-in-law, Christine,  was looking for something to buy me one year and I guess Bobby told her I love them and she got me one. When I opened it she said I can’t believe you like that thing. It looks like someone pulled it out of a garbage. To me they are the most beautiful things in the world.

When I was young I always had a business. We’re talking around 12 or 13 maybe younger. I made those octopuses made out of Phentex. Remember Phentex? Yuck I don’t think anyone would touch the stuff now. I made and my Mom sold at work thousands of those things. I crocheted granny square vests. My Mom even said that two of my vests ended up with Anne Murray’s daughters through someone my Mom knew at work. Hard to prove but it made me happy when I was a young entrepreneur.

My favorite adventure in the business world was my Raggedy Ann business. My sister-in-law, Darlene, and I started making them together and selling Raggedy Anns. When my Mom passed away and we were going through her things we found one of them that made it through all these years. Through every grandchild.  Here’s a picture for you to see.

I thought of sewing her eyes back and fixing her up but I thought. You know what if I made her when I was 13 that would make her 37 and I’m not sure what that would be in doll years but I’m thinking she’s earned looking a little wonky and no one can say a thing. Hey I know I’m 50 and wonky and no one says anything. Well I haven’t heard anything lately but who knows after people read this blog.

Here’s a funny story about the whole Raggedy Ann business adventure that will give you giggles. Darlene and I decided that bigger is always better so why don’t we make a life size Raggedy Ann. We sewed her up and she was looking mighty happening you know. We thought we’ll make a mess inside so we stuffed her outside. Did I mention it was windy? As we were stuffing most of the stuffing was blowing away and it was looking like Christmas. When we looked up the dog Molly was all covered in stuffing and to make it even funnier she was on the front of the boat. We both looked up at the same time and here was Molly doing her best Titanic impersonation and we howled in laughter. I don’t even know what happened to that Raggedy Ann but she sure gave us a lifetime of laughter. Maybe she’s out there somewhere and people look at her and say “what were they thinking?”

Hello dear friends. It’s so beautiful out isn’t it? God is good.

Yesterday I was feeling a little guilty about the whole “Billy Blastoff” thing and that I haven’t been on the hub’s motorcycle since then so I thought it’s a beautiful day why don’t we go on the motorcycle today.

Stupidly I said let’s take the motorcycle to Keswick because we were visiting our dear friends. I needed to get in my weekly acupuncture treatment and its been a while since we all got together. We missed our friends.

Now Oshawa to Keswick in Martin* (our car) feels like a l/2 hour. On the motorcycle it felt like 5 hours and that’s being nice. Don’t get me wrong it was beautiful seeing and smelling all of nature but it just felt like it was never going to end.

So once we were there I forgot all about the dreadful long ride. Especially after getting my treatment. Ahhhh Acupuncture. Like childbirth once they plop that little baby in your lap “most” of the pain and suffering goes away. Well until they’re 13, lol. Just kidding.

As always Debbie loves to cook and made us a beautiful dinner. Then reality set in. We had to drive home in the dark, in the cold, on this silly motorcycle.

Thank goodness I wore my red leather motorcycle jacket of many years ago. Just a little diversion for you. I bought this jacket a long time ago as I thought red and motorcycle together were just so funky. Not thinking at the time that Mr. Michael Jackson also wore one in his video with the one glove thing going on.  Everywhere I went in the jacket I got “where’s your glove?”. I threw it in the closet and never took it out again. Until now. Michael Jackson’s glove long forgotten I can now be me and funky. Oh ya!

Ok back to my story.

We get on the motorcycle and its so so so cold, its dark and time has now stood still. To get home I think it felt like about 30 hours. My poor husband didn’t even have a face mask. He said this morning his eyes still feel frozen. (I had to hear again about if he had bought the mask he wanted he wouldn’t have been cold. I told him he would look silly if he bought one. Keep in mind its not plain in colour but looks like a d*vil or a monster, skull or an eagle, and the list goes on. Boys will be boys.)

It was awful. I even did this weird thing and looked down at the ground. Reality set in at that moment when I realized that basically I’m sitting out in the open on this two wheely thing going lord knows how fast. My stomach did a little  thing until I realized if I threw up it would go inside my helmet which wouldn’t be pretty at all.

So this is what I learned from my adventure as we are always to learn from everything:

1. I’m way too old for a motorcycle (this lesson is obviously a hard one to get as I keep repeating it).

2. My bladder isn’t what it used to be when bouncing up and down on a motorcycle. We had to stop at Tim’s.

3. When driving at night on a motorcycle (if that ever happens again) dress according to the dead of winter.

4. If you have an injury from 30 years ago that you forgot about from an old accident it will reappear when driving on a motorcycle (I’m so sore today).

5. Never look down.

6. Pray.

We woke up this morning and my husband is like, let’s go out on the motorcycle. I’m like are you crazy? Let me recover for a few days.

It was hilarious we were at a red light and Bobby says. Well I can’t wait to read the blog on this one. He’s like I can see it now. “Heaven and H*ll all in one day. We started out seeing the lovely leaves and then it all turned bad. We froze to death. I’m never getting on that thing again. ” He went on some more. Funny guy.  He knows me too well.

So that’s it regarding the adventure.

*P.S. Our car got the name Martin because one day my old car Suzy died on my way home and I didn’t have a phone and I did a quick prayer as I was chugg luggin’ on the side of the road for help. That’s where Martin came in. He stopped, helped me out, checked out the car, gave me the phone to call Bobby and just plain took care of me. Then when he knew I was safe he said “oh look up there someone else needs my help”. He was very cool. Hence my cars’ name.

Hello Dear Friends.

Well it’s confirmed I’m going to have a booth in Screamworks in Peterborough.

I’m totally excited. If you are in the area pop in. It’s on October 24th, 25th and 26th. I’m in Psychic Row! I hear its all spooky like and the lights are dim and you get a little light in your tent area. Oh what fun I’m going to have! It’s going to be exhausting too.

(Kind of ironic this one popped out at me because I quit my mundane day job that I had for like 4 l/2 years a few weeks ago. With the economy the way it is she quit a good job with benefits……, lol.  )
