My New Philips Multicooker

June 24th, 2015 | Category: In the Kitchen with Sharon,Musings by Sharon

Hello Everyone.

I’m Baaaack!

So get this. I saw the new Philips Multicooker on the shopping channel and like “had to have it” hello who doesn’t.

It was a pricey little gadget but we eat out a lot and it will pay for itself. Plus Bobby had over half a million Petro Canada points so we got some cards for Best Buy price matched it with shopping channel and we got it for ….wait for it….”free” because of the points! It’s all good in my world.

It’s quite a large gadget and we need to get used to how it works.

The recipes look great especially cooking the pasta without boiling. I had to laugh a bit with this as I remember us buying not one but three pasta expresses (sucker for a sales pitch) which really didn’t work at all. I think I threw them out or they went to the second hand store.

I also had a bit of an odd feeling about not cooking and throwing out the water because I thought of all the stuff that’s in the water when boiling so where is that going you know?

So back to the multicooker.

Bobby and I decided as we were excited to cook something that he would go to Bulk Barn and grab the stuff for oatmeal. This made him happy.

Personally I think oatmeal is gross on any day. The Texture and even the sound when its being eaten just kind of gags me. Eating to me is all about texture, taste and sometimes sound.

Wanting to make anything in this thing and having a willing victim to eat it made me agree.

It was kind of confusing as after we figured out how to do it there was this little button that kept going around like a little racetrack so we were like Is it working? Isn’t it? Then we started to smell the cinnamon so we were ok it’s good.

It made a LOT and Bobby had a big bowl full while I suppressed my gagging and he said it was pretty good. After he left for work I threw it in the garbage food bin. Hey he can make it anytime.

I’ll take Magic Where I can Get It.

January 24th, 2012 | Category: In the Kitchen with Sharon,Musings by Sharon

Hi Everyone.

Isn’t the winter an odd one. It is great with the weather but it has a feeling of are we in winter or not and it feels extremely LONG. I guess spring will be here before we know it.

So I was in the wonderful Port Perry before Christmas and I found the following salt and pepper shakers and wanted to show you them.

I just had to have them. Aren’t they cute? I’m not sure if I’m thinking I’ll try anything to save my cooking or it just adds fun,

I know now you all want them don’t you? I can’t remember the name of the store but it is on the same side as Tweed and Hickory just down a bit. A huge store and they have purses and kitchen stuff. If I see the name today I’ll fix it in this blog.

It’s a bit hard to get the salt and pepper in there without a small little funnel but I just used a bowl under it and poured it in and it worked.

Hope this blog finds everyone well. Don’t forget about the Ajax psychic fair below and keep on keeping on.

Happy Bran Muffin Man

Good afternoon everyone. Welcome to The Psychic Cottage blog! So happy you popped in.

We all know that bran makes us happy (hee hee) but today I had the best surprise when I made my bran muffins.

OK I will let you in on what has been happening while the blog has been getting more space in case you are now standing there with your mouth open. I have been cooking lately and not just things that start with a T!

Big time cooking. I’m even getting excited about …..hold on……buying a new kitchenaid pot that was on sale at Canadian Tire! It’s not over yet don’t faint….and I even…….took everything out of the oven because I’m going to start using it! Ta Da!

Can you believe it? I can’t. I had some work done by a wonderful healer and something just switched inside me. It’s all good as Bobby’s niece Sahra says.

Ok back to my bran muffins. Let me brag a bit. I have been making these wonderful bran muffins and Bobby’s friends at work love them. I always add three little blueberries in them to make them moist and more tastey.

Yes my family I hear you just for clarity this is Sharon I haven’t sold this blog or anything. Geez.

I pull out the muffins out of the little toaster oven and this is what one of them looked like. I couldn’t stop laughing.

It reminded me of the time I found a heart in my cheerios.

Bobby wasn’t as amused as I was. I couldn’t stop laughing and I was so excited I couldn’t wait to write this blog and share my blessed bran muffin with you all.

I took him out for you to look at a different background.

Oh my Goddess he even has a little freckle on his nose!

I had an extra chuckle because I have been watching Season One of The Big C (which is like the best show ever) and in one eposide the girl says I don’t eat anything with a face. Guess she isn’t having a bran muffin then is she?

I know small things amuse small minds but I think this is the cutest thing that has happened to me in a long time.

I wonder if he will scream when I eat him! You know I’m not letting anyone  else eat him right? I think he’s magic.

I’m Nesting!

January 04th, 2011 | Category: In the Kitchen with Sharon,Musings by Sharon

Hi Everyone. (Warning you may get dizzy when reading this blog map needed.)

I’m not sure what has happened to me in this new year but I actually am cooking AGAIN! You got it AGAIN!

Like Geez Louise what is up with the Universe!

Did you check your astrologyzone this month. WOW is all I can say. Lots of action going. Apparently all the planets are moving forward at once which is rare with nothing in retrograde. Now read for yourself as I could be wrong on this one as someone told me about it but it does feel very powerful.

Who knew it would take me 12 planets all pushing me forward to cook!

Oh back to my cooking (forewarned you).  I’m making……..hold your breathe……..brownies.

Ok they are in a box but still I’m cooking. They are in my little convection toaster oven as I write this. I’ll have to remember to not forget about them half finished or something. I do do that sometimes.

(OK during this blog I went to check on them and I needed a toothpick. Who has a wooden toothpick nowadays. They are brutally bad on your teeth. I use those cute little ones with the brush. Like really? So I just put back in for a bit longer in case.)

OK friends with this energy please do something that you know you can’t do or are procrastinating on as it feels like that kind of energy! Here’s hoping it happens for you if its meant to be.

I’ll keep you posted on the brownies. Why me? Actually Bobby is probably saying why me too, ha ha.

Oh he is not feeling much better. I dragged him to the doctor kicking and screaming. I always count the files when we go in so I can keep track of how long it is going to be and there were 18 files. Yuck. Everyone hacking and snorting. I wasn’t sure I’d get out alive.

So now he has some stuff to take and hopefully will feel better real soon.

It was hilarious when Bobby told the lady behind the counter that I dragged him in there she said you were probably whining. She must be psychic too!

The quote below is for my sister. The reason is I (and Carolyn of Sands of Time Tarot (my partner in crime))went and peaked in at this store that came available that was so small and cute probably like 350 square feet and I wanted to see it. It was used as a grooming place (nothing like my wonderful niece’s place that I talk about whose store is clean and sparkly). This place smelled of well you know. So I told my sister (the wonderful Lavender Lady) I  was looking at it and how kind of gross it was and later that day received this email from her:

“What a p*ss off but meant to be. Urine good hands with the universe cause they didn’t let you make a wrong move.”  LL

She cracks me up.

Oops I forgot the brownies gotta go.

The Thought was There

January 04th, 2011 | Category: In the Kitchen with Sharon,Musings by Sharon

Good Glorious Morning everyone. What’s cookin’? Pardon the pun.

So I made my Soup yesterday as I talked about and you know I don’t know why I always forget but pasta expands bigger than you can imagine. When it’s little and cute I always want to put more in the soup and when it gets in the soup and sits there it totally expands and takes over.

Also when we were at our friends Debbie of Spiral Turtle she put this cute little soup mix in her soup and it was so good. I guess I didn’t watch close enough because it stayed hard in the soup I made.

Now you know why I don’t even try cooking (if it doesn’t start with a T) and why my kids won’t eat anything I make (unless it starts with a T).

We all have our gifts I guess cooking isn’t one of mine!

Bobby is recovering slowly I’m taking him to the doctor today because he is NEVER sick. This is strange for him.

Talk soon I’m going to look up all the foods that start with a T. Somehow I don’t think it is going to be like the amazing tourtiere that Rachel showed us a picture of in her blog The Stay Lucky. I think my T foods will have to not be in French. New Rules.

My Slow Cooker is Doing its Thing!

January 03rd, 2011 | Category: In the Kitchen with Sharon,Musings by Sharon

Hi everyone. How are you this delightful day? I hope you are having tons of fun.

Don’t faint but I am making soup. Bobby has been so sick so I thought I would help him to get better (or worse, lol) by making him some soup.

I added a few things I don’t normally use like hard soup mix that doesn’t seem to want to get soft (oops) and it smells a little weird but that’s ok. Maybe his taste buds are gone and his smell, ha ha ha. Poor guy.

I had the pleasure today of visiting someone in the City for a reading. She was so lovely and she had this cool dog called a Havenese. I want one!

I’m feeling a little strange today. I think there is some kind of planetary thing going on that is having an effect on me. Very odd (‘er than normal).

Ok back to my soup. Hopefully the soup fairy will visit and fix it up! Ha Ha.

Sunbeam Cupcake Maker

December 27th, 2010 | Category: In the Kitchen with Sharon,Musings by Sharon

Good Morning Everyone. I’m hoping that this lovely energy that is hopping around is flowing into your life.

Mercury is going out of retrograde on Thursday so give it a few days and we should be on our way. Hopefully it will go out gently.

So check this out what I found. I’m totally excited and sad at the same time as I can’t get it here in Canada from what I can see. It’s a cupcake maker. Yes you heard me right a CUPCAKE MAKER

Someone has heard the cry of Motivation, Passion & Cupcakes from beyond and sent me this wonderful thing. I do have patience I can wait for it to come here.

Now I just have to find a way to “dip” into the US and get one. I might try and order from Amazon.com and see what happens.

I’ve thought of making them myself  but as my husband has so cleverly figured out I can’t cook anything that doesn’t start with at “T” (Toast, Tuna, Tea, Taco’s) and our oven hasn’t been used in 7 years (we use a little toast convection oven). Plus I just don’t trust myself. This picture might sum it up what I’m thinking here.

With this though the world is my Oyster! I might have to rename them to be Tupcakes if I can even get ahold of one of these little contraptions from Heaven!

I know I’m a little crazy today! It happens. My giddiness of finding this has sent me over the moon.

So be on the lookout for one up here in Ontario to help me out ok! Call me right away so I can get down there and get it as I know people will be in a line to get them first. Like a cabbage patch doll.

I can see it now our cupcake events will never be the same again!

Dinner

November 23rd, 2010 | Category: In the Kitchen with Sharon,Musings by Sharon

Hi Everyone.

I think it was a success. We aren’t sick yet so its pretty good so far! I just realized I’ve been listening to my housekeeping subliminal mp3 so that explains the need to nest.

It was funny Bobby is like where is the camera I want proof that you made me dinner for the people at work. Ha Ha. I was well ahead of him.

So here was the lovely place setting. The round placements look a little wild but they are cute. Dollar store special.

Now the feta cheese did throw me for a loop. It was so gross when I opened it up in that pukey water. All I could think of is that the due date is not for a year. Grossola. It was lots of fun to crumble though.  I took a picture for you.

Here’s a picture of my beautiful salad. I forgot to tell you I bought slivered almonds too. How creative am I?

So that’s it. Bobby did get a little frisky after (I think it was shock) but sorry wrong Mp3 I have to do the dishes.

The Psychic Cook

November 23rd, 2010 | Category: In the Kitchen with Sharon,Musings by Sharon

Hello Everyone.

How are you again? Lots of posts today.

Today I decided to cook for my husband. Now I never cook. I used to when the kids were small but I somehow forgot how. Not sure what’s up with that but it happened.

So I went to the store and got some chicken and decided I wanted to make a spinach salad like you get in the restaurants.

I asked my psychic friend who works at Fresco how she made hers and she said she just uses spinach and mushrooms. No I wanted fancy.

So I did a psychic walk about to see what was going to go in my salad. I bought raspberry salad dressing, raspberries, baby spinach, sliced almonds and feta cheese. I wasn’t sure if it was going to be gross but when I got home and went on the Internet for a recipe I was pretty good in my choices! I’m not sure if he will like it or not but its going to be pretty! My friend Rosemary who is a good cook told me how to work with the feta and I was a little queasy about it but I’m sure it can’t be that bad.

I even cleaned off the table and took the old computer off and bought some lovely yellow place mats. Bobby is going to come home and wonder whose house he is in.

Here I go! Wish me luck! I’ll  post after.

Perfecting Chai Latte & Finding Nirvana in All this Clutter

April 03rd, 2010 | Category: In the Kitchen with Sharon,Musings by Sharon

Good Morning Everyone. Are you enjoying the weekend? I hope so.

This blog is somewhat scattered.  I would offer a map but I’m sure you are used to me by now.

It seems that for me time is standing still.

My mundane day job contract has come to an end and I’m only off one day and I’m at a bit of a loss what to do with myself. It’s funny when I was working I don’t stop. I’m busy all the time. Now I have the time I’m like where is the “busy” I’m used to.

I’m sure its just a lull before the storm so I’m just going with it.

What I have decided to do before I start a new contract or win the lottery whichever comes sooner, is clean up my clutter and perfect the Chai Latte. That is my goal.

I read in a blog that Lakshmi visits the cleanest house on Diwali and I have decided that I want her to visit my house in November. Yes my Family and Friends in 2010. Geez I heard you you know. Chuckle.

So if anyone has a messy house and would like to join me on this adventure write to me and we can join up together. We can support each other. There is no reason we can’t clean up the world one house at a time together. If I get enough people I can do up a Newsletter for that reason and we can all add to it and make a group. Instead of the Red Hat Society we can be the “I know my Hat was Somewhere in this Mess society”. No Virgos allowed. Just kidding I’m sure there are messy virgos out there somewhere.

My chart has a complete virgo interception. What that means is (to the best of my knowledge) that virgo is no where in my chart at all! Explains a lot.

If you have ever wondered what your chart says about you I have on The Psychic Cottage site an Astrological Profile that gives you all the wonderful gifts you have based on your astrological chart. I apologize as its only for women. It’s an amazing read and you can find out wonderful things about yourself.  There are also profiles available for children. It is wonderful to explore your child’s gifts and help them shine.

All in all I just don’t want six months to go by and I say to myself oh I should have done this or that. I’m on a mission this time.

The Chai dilemma comes because as you know on one of our date days Bobby bought me a milk frother.  I am having such fun trying to make coffee’s like Starbucks would make. Every night I’m like ok Bobby try this one or that one.

I should get a day job at Starbucks or something and find out how to do it. It’s all so exciting. I’ve always loved fancy coffees and how they look and taste. This little Keurig frother works better than anything I’ve ever tried. The good part about it is it stays foamy and doesn’t go back into milk. I find the one on the espresso machines don’t work as well for me. Maybe it is all in the temperature.

When I find my camera in all this clutter I’m going to show you how I have perfected it. It’s so pretty.

I’m going to go to my coffee supplier today and see if I can get some Chai cups and some espresso cups. Ok so I’m not achieving anything too spectacular but it does make me happy and when people are happy it adds to the energy to keep us in balance.
