Living the Dream

Category: Musings by Sharon

Hello dear blog Friends. How are you this glorious day that the Universe  allowed us to share in.

I just got back from my annual three day reprieve with my dear pal Kal. We went to Port Huron and had such fun. It’s always great to get away even when spending  three days acting crazy running here and there and everywhere. It was totally exhausting but that’s ok. It was still very refreshing to have a change of scenery.

As you know I am going to a hypnotherapist for weight loss and I have to tell you whatever he did is certainly working. (It’s actually nothing short of a miracle the way it works. If you knew me at all you would say “yep” she’s right.)  Usually we spend three days stuffing ourselves at every restaurant that we don’t have in Canada. Shop, Eat, Shop, Eat, Sleep a bit, Shop, Eat. This time I’m thinking because of the hypnotherapy and because of my friend being on Weight Watchers  it was a completely different trip.

The first day we almost forgot to eat altogether and ran in for something at the last minute. (Yum Cracker Barrel. Their meatloaf is really good.) The next day we really did try to do our piggy fest and we went to Olive Garden for dinner. We ordered our usual which is a little bit of all the three pastas  but when it came we were stuffed from the salad and brought most of it back to the hotel for the fridge. We sure learned our lesson. From then on in it was ordering one meal and splitting it. More time to shop.

I do not want to go on and on about the hypnotherapy but I really have changed when it comes to food. Firstly I cannot and I mean cannot eat anything (including “one” lone candy) without putting it in my little book. I fill out all the calories I eat. It’s disturbingly odd behavior for me yet strangely empowering. We had a yogurt at the hotel for breakfast and I left my purse in the room and I couldn’t finish it until I went and got a pen and a piece of paper to write the calories  (again if you knew me you  again would say “Whoa now that’s downright peculiar are you sure we are talking about Sharon?”).

So I thought if I’m writing in a little book anyway why not write my affirmations right? So I set up my little book I carry everywhere with me (and I mean everywhere I’m naked without it) like this:

Date

A little about how I’m feeling today

Then I list my calories for the day

Then I write two affirmations I love (I’m not sure where they came from sorry): “Only good comes to me now.” And “I recognize my good when it comes.”

Serendipity Log (more on this later).

Things I’m Grateful for.

To do List – One thing must come off a day.

Let me explain a little more:

Serendipity List  – Now as you know from my blog where I talked about Victoria Moran’s book Living a Charmed Life it is important to have a Serendipity List. Victoria says to acknowledge the serendipity in your life invites much more and grows and grows. This is totally true as I can attest to below.

To Do List – In my to do list I take a couple of really important things from my to do list and transfer them over. One thing has to come off before the day is out. (Again miracle for me).

On our trip we had so much fun completing our Serendipity List. Here’s a list from our trip of all the Serendipitous events. Notice how they escalated.

(upgraded hotel for free, found exact plant holder I was looking for $1.99, found some amazing deals on clothes, found amazing pants and this little pattern coat for $4.00; Kal (who is in the fashion industry and just happens to be doing her bathroom) found the perfect bathroom set all about couture (didn’t buy then and went back next day and they were 20% off), Kmart had a blue dot special of 30% off already discounted clothing, hello, I got the best skirt that looked like a Monet painting  that I didn’t buy (even though it was only $7.00) and I wanted it so bad and I went back the next day and got it and I found a matching scarf for only $1.25 (oh ya), we got a parking spot right up front at the busiest rest stop on the way home, found a matching notebook for my binder…..)

Now this list went on and on and I won’t bore you but see how it grows when you start. It’s just so exciting.

Now the best thing that happened on our trip was looking over when we were parked at a light and there was a bright pink (OMG OMG wait….) Hummer and a lady was driving it. I was totally flipped out and was saying to Kal check it out check (I sound a bit like Hercules sidekick Newt) it out and then it pulled away and you won’t believe what was written across the back. “Living the Dream”. Is that not just the coolest thing you have ever heard? Mary Kay? I don’t know but I want one.

I was going to look up pink and hummer on the internet but I’m writing this one on my lunch at work and let’s just say if something else comes up it would cost me my job.

So that’s my trip for you. Such fun life is isn’t it? It’s always the small things that mean the most.

Quote for you:

“You meet a friend – your face brightens. You have struck gold.” Kassia

Be well my Friends and thanks Kaleigh and all my Family, Friends and Clients for being my Gold.

Until we meet again, Sharon
