A touch of Grace – Florence Scovel Shinn

Welcome once again, I am so grateful you could come.

I wanted to write about my favourite author, Florence Scovel Shinn.

The glorious Ms. Shinn came into my life in 2002. I was on holidays with my family in a little town in Ontario. I was at an antique store and my son’s girlfriend at the time handed me an antique book called “The Game of Life and How to Play it.” She said it was so “me”. It was dated 1925. I bought it and couldn’t stop reading it over and over. It literally changed my way of thinking about life. It was like magic. The words resonate beauty and truth. I feel I have looked for this book my whole life. I treasure my book and have since bought and read many times all four of her books all included in “The Writings of Florence Scovel Shinn”. This book never gets very far from me as I pick it up daily.

Although she lived in another time her books still touch the hearts of anyone who reads them. These books leave the reader forever changed in their Grace.

A good friend was going through a rough patch and she took the passage out of the book that said “God will Provide”. Whenever she was worried she would say “God will Provide” to herself and others. Well within one month her whole life switched around. She got a great job and met the perfect guy and the rest is history.

It’s almost like when you have a problem and reach for her book she will show you the answer through it.

God Bless Florence Scovel Shinn. May you live forever in our hearts.

    Hi Sharon,

I too am a follower of Florence Shinn’s work. I was given the book “The Game Of Life” by someone as a gift in the mid 90’s and put it away. One day a few years later, I was looking through some drawers and found it again. I was going through a very challenging time in my life and after reading about “Casting The Burden” and “digging a ditch”, I applied them to my circumstances and within weeks my entire life changed for the better and the problems I was having were completing solved in a perfect way! I now teach her principles and am in the process of creating complimentary products to continue to share her timeless wisdom. I enjoy communicating with other people who apply her wisdom in their every day lives. Feel free to keep in touch!

    Blessings Abound!
    Joan
