Where do you even Buy a Hitchhiking Cat?

Category: Musings by Sharon

Hello Everyone.

I apologize once again for my absence.

My boys have been staying with Bobby and I for a bit in between houses and I find it so much fun to be a Mom again. Sure they are older but I didn’t realize how much I missed them and I’m having so much fun. I’m laughing about silly things and even though they are so different from each other its fun to  see their strengths and I’m very proud of them.

My older boy has the funniest sense of humor. He has me laughing all day. I guess in our house there’s lots to laugh at. He looks at all my stuff which things are perfectly normal to me and shakes his head. Yesterday he said:  “why do you have a hitchhiking cat?” with this look of “how weird is this?” on his face. I tell him that its a lucky cat and its not hitchhiking its waving and its to bring money in the house. Again the look. He goes about the house asking about each odd thing and what its for and why its here and laughs. I hear him say to his brother “where would you even buy something like that?”. I know its all in fun he did live with me for 20 of his years so I had funny things even then.

My younger boy doesn’t notice the odd individual stuff but sees the big picture. The only thing that gets to him is the clutter. He’s only been here a few weeks and he’s gone right through the house. Our basement that was kind of like a giant storage room is now a basement apt for the two of them. It looks great. I see my husband looking around in wonder at the transformation.

Yesterday I heard my younger boy laughing so much he couldn’t catch his breath and the dogs were freaking out. I came out and my older boy had on this medieval leather armor helmet that Bobby had made in a leather course. It’s huge. He’s like Ok Mom “what the h*ll is this and why do you even have it?” He had me laughing my head off. Doesn’t everyone have a medieval leather armor helmet? Boys will be Boys.

So that’s been my life. One adventure after another.

I asked my younger boy if he minded staying here. This boy does not like negativity. If you talk negative around him he tells you to get away and come back when you are positive. His answer was that the silver lining is that we are all getting to know each other.

God is good. I have a feeling this is going to be my best Mothers’ Day yet.

Yes being a Mom or an Aunt is so special.
