The Midas Touch

Hello my Friends out there in Blogland. How are you today?

Now you might be thinking I’m going to chat here about the winning at the casino I had the other day of Two Thousand Bucks! You got it. I did have the Midas Touch that day but no this is about Daisy, my little car.

I was going to work on Monday and I heard this weird sound. It was like the underneath of my car was dragging. It started out kind of swooshy like when I hit a bump so I thought it was something “in” Daisy but by the time I got a few miles away I knew this wasn’t something in the car. Something was dragging.

I went home instead of work. When I looked underneath there seemed to be this little steel thingy hanging down. It reminded me of the car version of that little thing in your throat that hangs down. The throat thing has a name. A big name. I’ll ask my husband as he had to get his out as painful as that sounds.

So, my husband gets home and says, oh it’s nothing, you don’t even need that part and he attempted to cut it off with steel cutters and not being able to do that bent and tucked it up under something. The whole time I had my mouth open in horror and I’m thinking this doesn’t feel good. With nothing being open for Family Day it was the best offer I had at the moment.

Now I could have got up at 3:30 am and taken my husband’s car, Martin, but I didn’t and I drove to work just fine. No swooshing.

It was when I was half way home when it started. It sounded like I was dragging a bicycle under my car. I was so embarrassed. It was ok when I was going fast but when I was slowing down it was bad.

I had to run home first to let the dogs out and then I drove back to Midas at 460 Taunton Road in Oshawa. I picked Midas because the phone number had 555 in it and that’s one of my favorite numbers. The life of a psychic.

The whole time I’m thinking geez how much is this going to cost. I was kind of holding my breath on this one.

I said to Ms. Tammy (who by the way is just the perfect lady for the job there. You know she’s got things under control) don’t be doing any work until you tell me how much. She’s like no worries sign here which always makes me nervous.

So they take Daisy into the bay and she’s in there for a brief few minutes and then he brings her out. I’m thinking oh no it was really bad and they can’t fix it. My mind was going a little bonkers and the guy comes in and hands me the keys. I’m like what is it? He’s like it’s nothing we took it off. It’s a heat sensor (I think that’s what he said) that is only used in hot climates like California and isn’t really needed here in Canada.

I’m kind of there thinking how much as they didn’t discuss it and he looks and smiles and says $500. I laughed nervously but still didn’t quite get it. Then when I went to see Tammy for the real bill she said no charge. Enjoy.

How cool is that? I went to Midas and they fixed my car and I didn’t get charged.

I love Midas now. I’m going to go there for all my oil changes as they aren’t really that friendly at my other place and they kind of make me nervous like they are doing something they shouldn’t. You know charging for special oil when you real might not be getting that extra special oil.

God Bless Midas, Tammy and the Gang.

Quote for you:

Until we meet again, Sharon

P.S. Now I kind of have the urge to drive to California for some reason.

Thanks Becki. I didn’t remember it to be such a sexy sounding name.
