Happy 60th Birthday Brother!

Hello my Dear Friends.

Today is my Big Brother’s birthday. 60 years old. Where did the time go? When did we become our parents age?

I wanted to just take a moment to say Happy 60th Birthday to him.

Alan has always been the white sheep of the family. He leads a wonderful “normal” life and he is an amazing Father and Grandfather. We are all very proud of who he is and the life he set out for himself taking care of his lovely wife and two gorgeous and successful children.

I know throughout our lives I’ve horrified him over and over again in my “let go and watch what happens” way of life but I think finally he has come to the conclusion that no matter what happens to me I always land on my feet. I’ve walked off many a cliff in my life without ever a thought of what would happen. I knew it would all work out in the end. Alan didn’t and doesn’t live his life like that at all. He always dotted his “i”s.

Oh he tried to save my free spirited soul over and over. The best story is probably when he set up a budget for me so I could save my money. He set it all out for me and sent me on my way. Next meeting a few weeks later he asked where all the money went that was supposed to be in savings. I’m like “hello?” I spent it. I think that was the last straw of his trying to put me in that square peg. I’m sure he held his breath over and over when my life hit 10 on the chaos meter like quitting a job on principle and landing another that same afternoon.

A funny story I remembered this afternoon when I was thinking of this blog was when we were little my brothers told me to jump on this grate in the attic. I did, always up for an adventure, and went right through the ceiling, plaster and all. My mother had a few friends over and I’m sure the sight was a funny one my legs coming through the ceiling and my screaming at the top of my lungs. Never a dull moment in our home that’s for sure.

Well Happy Birthday Alan and may success and prosperity follow you in the next half of your life like it did in the first. Love you Tons!

Here’s a quote for you:

“A brother is a friend given by Nature” Jean Baptiste Legouve

Until we meet again, Sharon

P.S. I’m sure you have figured out that the picture is of Alan and me when I was little. I was going to make a comment about his ears for fun until I saw the rip in my pants, my big head and the weird haircut. I thought maybe that my fun comment might backfire on me.  Take care friends.

    OK:

So I know the name of your hairdresser and thanks goodness she went on to become an accountant.

And to Al, just look at the love in your face holding your little sister. That’s just the way it was.
