What was I thinking?

Hello my Friends. I’m back! How are all my Friends out there in Blog Land?

As you all know I quit my mundane job a while ago and I have been doing a few contracts along the way.

I totally realized that being in that full time job which I really didn’t like at all was so damaging for me. I’m not saying its not for everyone there but for me it drained the life out of me.

I just feel alive again in the work department.

Oh I know it wasn’t a mistake being there as I met many a friend and did learn lots. I probably wasn’t meant to be there for 5 years though.

My present contract is just too much fun. I love going there. Now that’s a new thought eh? Love going to work but I do. The work is the same as it is what I do always but the people are so wonderful and the place of work is just so respectful.

I won’t get into any of the previous work as it would be unethical but there are a few things that I find just hilarious in this job because of the last job. The one thing I will say is the last job was very “army” like.

Here we go, without experiencing the other I:

(i) would never have enjoyed the smells at my office. All the different perfumes and smells of aftershave and just plain people smells. No one sniffing you to see if you have perfume on. It’s delightful!

(ii) I would never have been so excited about sitting near the cafeteria. It’s so much fun to see people walking around with food. Where they have me, in a large office with several people, it smells all the time of food. Syrup in the morning, spices at lunch. People come in and have their lunch at their desk. It’s just so warm and home like. I’ve even heard people say “Ok, I’ll get back to you once I have had my breakfast”. Can you imagine? On work time. It’s just so much fun to watch and listen. It’s like a lovely dance, people shaking their cereal bowls and such.

(ii) I would never have appreciated the feeling I get when my boss actually leaves me alone to do my job and thanks me on my progress. It gives me back my self esteem and I’m not living in fear that I will make a mistake. I like working there and work much harder then I ever did at the last place. Remember same work….different place. (My boss actually cracked up when I said who is going to check something I did. She’s like What?) It’s a great feeling to have pride in my work again.

Everyone works really hard and they don’t spend their whole day complaining about how crappy it is to work there. I haven’t heard one complaint yet. The work gets done and the business is truly successful even in this economy.

The funny part too is that Bobby started a new job too. Bobby worked for welding companies and that is a “guy” job where its a bit rough and such. His new job is governmental and he is very very happy. The first day the boss said “thank you all for arriving on time”. Bobby said to me? It was the strangest thing to hear. Aren’t we supposed to do that?

So why I’m telling you all this nonsense is because if you are in a job that you don’t like and you go there every day dreading it, you need to change it. If there’s no way out (bills, kids, etc) then make small changes within yourself so that you no longer resonate with this dreadful job. Add something to your vision board of the perfect job that you want to do. Maybe you play piano and it is your life’s dream to be a piano teacher but you need the money at this dreadful job. That’s ok. Put that on your board. You never know what life has in store for you. Maybe its only a gentle change you have to make to make all your dreams come true. Hey it doesn’t even have to be your dream job but when you are slugging it out 9-5 you might as well be happy.

I have to tell you since I’ve been out of that environment I’m thinking to myself “What was I thinking?” I can’t believe I lasted so long. I never want to experience that again. I’ll follow the universe’s nugings all the way this time.

Quote for you:

Until we meet again, Sharon
