Meghan’s Light

June 29th, 2010 | Category: Gems Along the Way,Musings by Sharon

Hello Dear Friends. How are you this strange night?

I have been feeling a bit melancholy all day and I was playing on the net and found the following story about a woman Meghan and how she kept a blog called The Bees Knees during her first finding out about her breast cancer until she passed away at which point her husband Adam took over the blog and is making it his mission in her honour to complete her goal list.

Being a cancer survivor from age 13 I found her story fascinating and so very touching. I read it from beginning to end.  I felt like I got to know her and what she offered to the world by telling her story. She blasted through her pain and made it into something she was experiencing the good and the bad. She could have pulled within and could have been angry and resentful yet she shared her story and now her story will help so many people experiencing what she went through. It is very humbling and makes one very grateful for every day on our great Earth.

When I had cancer it was very shameful. The word couldn’t even be spoken . It was called the “C” word for the fear of what was connected to it. We are in a different era now. Meghan shows in her blog that it is a fight and you fight with all you got. I found it amazing that she didn’t waiver from that place of strength. I loved when she said its “my” body and I will show everyone what is involved. Maybe not in those words but in similar words. How so very proud I am to have read her story. It is interesting that through all the pictures graphic or othewise she remains very beautiful and proud.

God Bless you Meghan. Thank you for being you and for sharing your light with us.

Happy 60th Birthday Diane!

June 24th, 2010 | Category: Gems Along the Way,Musings by Sharon

Hello Dear Friends. Welcome.

Today is a special blog to celebrate my sister Diane’s 60th Birthday.

Diane is known as Lavender Lady in the newsletter as she has a gift of poetry so you will know her from there.

Having a Sister is such a wonderful blessing. I can’t imagine my life without her. I do love her with all my heart. She is always in my thoughts and prayers. I am very blessed to have her in my life.

Here’s a picture of us when we were younger. (I wish I still had that car now.)

I thought it would be a wonderful gift to her to allow all her family and friends to write something that they want to say to her for her birthday. I thought it to be a cool idea. So here we go. Some have forwarded pictures.

If you are reading this and want to add birthday wishes and didn’t get a chance to send anything please either send to me and I will add to it or write a comment. I know it will make her heart sing.

These are in no particular order.

Pat has been Diane’s friend since forever and is a wonderful Artist. You can visit her blog here.  This is what she wrote:

“To Diane,
Thank you Angels, for sending me such a perfect forever friend.  I love you Di.”  Pat B.

Here is a couple of pictures she sent. The first is of Pat and Diane.

The next picture Pat sent was very cool because it had the three of us in it and our fake dog.

Here are some wishes from Lesley’s Family. Lesley is just so cute and her children and husband are wonderful. Cailyn is right to the point of what birthday’s are about, too cute.

“Happy 60th Birthday Diane!!

We are truly thankful to be a part of your life. Your free-spirited, fun-loving and unconditional love is just….awesome!!!!! There is no one else like you Diane and we wish to send ALL of our love to you :)”
xoxo Lesley and Kevin

Words from Taylor:

“Happy 60th Birthday….we’ve had fun all of the times we’ve been to your house. Hope you have a great birthday”….Love Taylor

Words from Cailyn:

“Hope you get lots of presents”….Love Cailyn

Next is from Diane’s sweet friend Glenys. Some people are just so wonderful. Glenys is always helping everyone. She never stops. It’s hard not to smile when Glenys is in the room, she is like sunshine. This is what she wrote.

“Birthday wishes to my friend Diane.
If the wind is still, Diane will create a breeze in your life and make you alert.
If the sun isn’t shining she will make you smile.
If you are feeling lonely, she invites you in.
If you want a giggle, she puts on a show.
If you need a friend, she is always there.” Glenys

Thank you dear Glenys and if you find that photo send it along and I will put here.

My Brother David said the following: “Happy Birthday Diane. Love you” David

Cheryl is my friend and added her own little birthday wishes for my sister.

“Happy 60th to your sister Diane.” Cheryl

The following is from my Bro Alan and my wonderful Sister-in-Law Darlene. Love you Both.

“My sister, Diane. Loving, caring and giving, extremely organized,
loves to travel, life of the party and always ready and willing to
jump into any situation.
Happy 60th birthday,
Love you.”
Big Brother & Sister-in-law”

They sent this picture of Diane and her husband when Alan helped them  put up a mural on the wall downstairs. How hilarious is that?

This is from Penny Diane’s lovely neighbour and friend.<

“Have a good one Diane.  Remember 60’s not so bad – you could be turning 61!  Remember to say Hi to Elvis from his #1 Fan up in Rock & Roll Heaven – Tony.” Penny

This is from Diane’s dear Friend Hilda:

“Birthdays should be a special time as everyone should know.
It means living another year of living another year to grow.
Birthdays should be a special time for each to then reflect,
On the past and on the present and what the future might expect.
Birthdays should be a special time to start anew,
Setting goals and working to make each and every dream come true.
Happy 60th Birthday Diane. Hilda

You all know my wonderful neice Becki (dog groomer extraordinaire) from my newsletter.

“Most people are afraid to express themselves the way my Aunt Diane does. Her sense of humour could be described as “quirky” but she always makes people laugh. Her style may not be conventional, but it belongs to her and reflects who she is. Diane is not afraid to laugh out loud or shed a tear of joy or sadness. Her personality itself is truly comforting and I’m sure I’m not the only one who enjoys her loving energy. Happy Birthday to the woman who always makes sure she says “I love you”. We love you too.Becki, Brian and Tyler”

Becki sent in this picture from her wedding walking with my Brother David (her Dad) with Diane in the background.

My cousin Cindy remembers the funniest things about growing up. I remember none of it but the things she comes out with are just so cute. Here’s what she wrote when I asked for something:

“I can’t believe she’s turning 60, boy do I feel old now, and I can’t believe how much you two look alike, makes me think of the old days when we played together at your house, I can remember I would stay over and your mom would make us eggs in the morning and I would eat the yolks and you would eat the white part, that was on Rogers Rd I think. Say hi to her for me and wish her a great big Happy Birthday for me ok. ”

Then she sent this from her Mom and her.

Hi Sharon I was speaking to mom the other night and her message to Diane is Happy 60th from your favorite Aunt Doris & Uncle Sam, we appreciate all your calls over the years and we always enjoy your visits they mean so much to us, we love you. Have a great birthday. And my message to her is I’m catching up to you, so please slow down I don’t want to be 60 yet….LOL Have a great day and hope we can get together this summer and have a blast. Your cousin Cindy Happy 39th Birthday Diane. Thanks Sharon this is such a great idea, you take care.  Cindy

This is from our cousin Shelley:

“Sorry for the belated birthday wishes for Diane but please tell her I think of her often always with a smile on my face. She was such an influence in my life and I recall times on Rogers Rd. a lot. Like the time we all had our wet hair wrapped in towels and Diane put on the music. We were all dancing with our turbins till they fell off and we ended up wrapping around our hips and doing the twist. We had a lot of fun together. happy birthday Diane. Also I want to say how much my mother loves and appreciates her.”

Mary wrote the following:

“Happy Birthday Diane. It’s such a pleasure knowing you for so many years and hopefully for many more years to come. You always have such a beautiful smile.” Mary

“Happy Birthday Diane.” Mr. & Mrs. Mariano

Vince sends his birthday wishes. “Happy 60th Diane”.

“Happy Birthday Diane. Lots of Love from Peter in Cuba.”

“All of our love and best wishes to our favourite Diane – we love you!”  Ed jo & Paula

“Happy 60th Diane. Love you.” Michael

“Happy 60th Birthday Diane.” Love Bobby

My Friend Dave added the following:

“It is a very special moment when someone turns 60, and I certainly hope that this special moment is very special for you!” Dave

“Happy 60th Diane!!! I hope it was everything you hoped it would be and more… you deserve it! Thanks for being such a great friend! Georgia and I are very lucky to have you! Happy Birthday!!!!!” xoxoxoxo

So that’s everyone for now I could catch but please add your comments and birthday wishes for Diane.  If you have pictures sent them on. I’ll leave you with one last picture from the fairy festival!

Happy Birthday Dear Sister. I love you. Thank you for being you.

Kiss Causes the Earth to Move!

June 23rd, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Hi Everyone. How are you doing? Did you feel it? The Earthquake?

Bobby and I were in the kitchen and he was making a shrimp frozen dinner thing and said kiss me because you can’t kiss me after I have shrimp and the moment we kissed the whole house started to shake. We thought it was a large truck going by but things were moving in the house. It just took a second but it was really odd.

I was saying all day that something was going to happen. I was worried driving because I thought it would be high winds or hail.

I remember long time ago it happened too. Things started to shake in the house. Creepy.

Lonely Chick Flick

June 22nd, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Howdy Everyone. I hope this evening blog finds everyone happy and well!

Tonight I went to see the movie Letter to Juliet.

It was so good. Ok it was a bit sappy at times and a bit slow (and totally obvious what was going to happen) but I really liked it.

Bobby was at work and I was so sick of my usual movies (It’s Complicated, Practical Magic, Hello Again) that I went to the movie by myself.

I realized a few things when I was there though. One it’s much more fun to go to the movies with Bobby, two, its really odd to eat popcorn alone, three “our” space (the one with the bar)  isn’t the same when I’m not with Bobby.

All and all I guess I just missed Bobby. Next time I’ll have to wait until he can go with me to the movies.

I didn’t feel like a loser or anything just lonely.

Pink Coincidence? I don’t think so.

June 22nd, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Hello Dear Friends. It is a dreary day isn’t it. I was thinking it would be a great day for tanning. Look at me tanning, gym, belly dancing, who am I and where did the old me go?

Must be Dr. Angelface. Hypnosis is so wonderful. It’s like you go and the old grumpy parts stay there and euphoria replaces it. Ahhhh.

So I finally caved in and went to the running room for new running shoes. Bobby has been nagging me for months now to get some. His treat. He was going anyway to get his new pair with a gift certificate that he received from our dear friends who were hitched on the weekend (such an amazing present for them to give him) so the money he saved for his shoes he bought me a pair.

It was such an experience. I tried on about 10 pair of different shoes and I was so praying for pink. Some were an awful colour. I would rather not have them then have to walk or exercise in a pair of shoes that are blood red and they looked dirty even before they were out of the box. Yuck.

The whole thing is that you will “know” which ones are yours. Hello? I knew before I went in the store that mine were the pink ones. Turns out I was right. I put them on and they felt like little pillows on my feet. Thank goodness.

I think it was all set up before I got there for me to join the walking group. Bobby and his sidekick at the running room talked me into joining the walking club. It was a trick but worth it for the running shoes.

Now I won’t be embarrassed at the gym when I’m exercising and I’m sliding all over the floor in my 5 year old runners from Wally World.

Wish me luck! I’m tired already.

Shoes Lasted One Dance – Not bad

June 20th, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Good Morning Everyone. Is this not the most wonderful day. Magic is in the air for sure.

The wedding last night was just delicious. Well really delicious because we didn’t stop eating. Yum Yum.

Bobby and I went for a walk and there were desserts and sandwiches which seemed like two minutes after dinner. I’m sure it was many hours after though. There were little square chocolate covered cheesecake things. Hello!  God’s idea I’m sure.

I found the recipe on line to show you. Sweet Link.

We danced and danced and danced.

My shoes received tons of attention. I’m sure they were the highest ones there. I also think there was a pool going around to see how long I could stay in them. Whoever got first dance won. Thank goodness I brought another low pair.

I’m so happy Bobby loves to dance. I remember those days with my first husband where I was itch en to dance but sat with him instead. Wedding after wedding. Event after event. My foot tapping to the music. Sure there were those weddings where you knew everyone and dancing even by yourself was fine but they were few and far between.

Bobby is such fun and loves life so there is never a dull moment.

Here’s a link to the shoes so you get an idea of how high I’m talking here. Link.

I met a new wonderful friend too named Bonnie. She is a delight. I even won the centrepiece. Woo hoo! I gave it away as I didn’t want to bring it home. I’m really trying not to bring stuff into the house anymore. Cleansing cleansing cleansing.

Weddings are such fun. This was their second wedding so they each have a child. I’d say about 11 or 12 maybe younger. They were so behaved and looked so cute.

Congratulations to my friends. You both deserve the wonderful life ahead of you.

Lottery Madness

June 18th, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Good Morning Dear Blog Friends. How are you this delicious day.

I’ve been taking somewhat of a break from everything until my voice heals and I’m feeling very “chillaxed”.

We have a very very busy weekend with a wedding of our friends. Congratulations Guys! It’s going to be lots of fun.

Today I have to find one of those squishy things that go under my dress to make it smooth and tidy with no lumps and bumps. I tried one on at Sears the other day and it was not a pleasant experience. I came out and said to the lovely sales girl that helped me pick it “that was hard on the self esteem”. I guess if you are squishing your body one place it has to go to another!

I got the best shoes. They are high high high. I’m a little worried because we have been exercising with a gym coach at the gym and my legs are hurting bad. I can only imagine how they are going to hurt after wearing these stilts.

They are beautiful though and they match my dress exactly. I’ll just stay sitting. I hope when I eat my squishy thing doesn’t explode. Great visual eh? She blew right out of her 4 inch shoes!

Oh ya topic of this blog is Lottery Madness.

Are you getting a ticket! It’s crazy. I read lottery sales are up 38%. They should have a national debt lottery. It would be paid of in no time. Good idea?

I always enjoy (not) the clever people who say. If you are a psychic why don’t you know the lottery numbers. I gently explain once again that if psychics knew the lottery numbers psychics wouldn’t exist. They would be known as intuitive millionaires instead.

Have you thought about what you would do with all that money? If Bobby and I start talking about it we start arguing right away. I say the first thing you do is get to a lawyer and figure it all out. Before you tell anyone except close family of course. That is if I don’t croak on the spot of finding out. Maybe people need a lawyer before checking their tickets! We always settle with when we go to the lawyer we each take our own half and do with it what we want. We would of course stay married as we adore each other it is just what to do with all that dough.

One of the things I would buy is a “psychiccottagemobile”. Oh yes it would be pink, oh yes it would have a monarch and flowers on it. With all that money I’d have Rachel (the illustrator of my website) design it. How so very cute would that be. Although with $50 million a business would be back burner stuff. Front and centre would be “let’s have some jolly fun shall we?”.

You know travel is involved. I’d love to see the world. Glastonbury England, Ireland, Canada east and west, California and that’s just the first 10 days, lol. Catch me if you can!

I would love to have a house that is totally self sufficient with water near that you can see from your bedroom.

Ahhhh.

Oh well enough dreaming. Back to reality until after they announce the numbers.

Radio Show – Psychic Challenge

June 16th, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Hello Dear Blog Friends. I hope you are enjoying the gift of living here on our wonderful Earth.

I got a call from the a radio show last week and they wanted me to be on their radio show. I thought it would be fun although I had a bad feeling about it. Almost like they were putting energy into it just so the psychics looked like fakes and they could do their funny little gig. I went ahead with it as I thought they looked nice and fun and we all need some fun.

When I heard the taped show I wasn’t far off on my prediction that that is what they were doing. That’s ok I’m a big girl.  I thought it was cute that they mentioned my Canadian accent.

Their conclusion is that “all” or was it 99% of psychics are fake, etc.

This is fine everyone has their opinion and everyone plays a wonderful role in this thing we call a Universe.

I was feeling a bit duped about the whole thing and questioning how others thought about the show then I received this email on the same day and I felt better about what I do for a living:

I have to tell you, you gave my son inlaw a message on Sat that you saw a tree falling and that it would freak them out. Sunday morming his neighbor was at his door asking if he needed help removing his fallin tree that was over the street and had fallen that morning.  They were so bewildered now all the neighbors want her to have a party with you.” M

I have nothing to prove to anyone really as I love what I do and I’m not one to judge but I did feel much better getting that email.

Belly Dancing – Chapter Two

June 15th, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Hello Everyone. I’m so happy today. My voice is finally back, not fully back but no more squeaks. The doctor finally gave me some drugs so that’s good. It was getting ridiculous not having a voice.

I went to Belly Dancing again last night. I really do think that psychic was wrong. There is no way I had a life of a famous belly dancer. I just seem to be so not getting it. Everyone else is shimmying all over the place and I maybe have a smile on my face because I like it but I just don’t look the same as them. It’s not even a size thing as we are all different. Strange.

The hardest part is the half hour of exercise before. Is it really necessary to hold your arms out until they are in so much pain it hurts. I’m not getting the whole exercise thing. I was mesmerized by watching this bouncing blond with a body to croak over do this whole routine in the back with the mirror as her audience. I had to wonder why she loved exercise so much and I seem to not like it at all. Maybe its something that happens in the middle of trying. I’m waiting because I really want a body like that. I could get into real trouble with that body. My husband I’m sure would like me to have a body like that.

Well its one thing I’ve learned doing readings is that everyone has a gift and mine might not be exercise but that’s ok.

I’ll keep trying though. I think I’m going to attempt one of those awful machines next. They look like metal spiders or something. I’m sure I will learn to love them.

The weird part is all the time I was doing Belly Dancing I was craving chocolate cake. Is that not strange? When I watch the movie It’s Complicated I crave chocolate cake but that is because of the movie I’m not sure what this is about.

I didn’t surrender to eating the cake though which is a good thing. It would of been a silly thing to do all that exercise and each chocolate cake.
