Powerful Intentions

August 23rd, 2008 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Hello Everyone.

Sometimes we find something that is just too good not to share.

Someone recommended that I go onto Powerful Intentions and I’m having so much fun. It’s kind of a place for like minds to meet. I love it. The forum is so informative and there are lots of subjects to make us feel so good.

Check it out!

Here’s a quote I found on there. I just adore Og Mandino

” I will love the light for it shows me the way, yet I will endure the darkness because it shows me the stars. ” Og Mandino

I’m off to the “ex” today. I’ll write and tell you how it was.

Until we meet again, Sharon

Billy Blastoff

August 18th, 2008 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Hi Everyone! I hope today is a wonderful one for you.

I’m not supposed to spread this story around but what are blogs for right?

So on Sunday my husband and I are driving around on the dreaded motorcycle of his and we are at a light and as the light turns the motorcycle stalls out and for some reason the motorcycle (which Bobby has now called Dexter) starts to fall over. It’s so heavy when it goes it goes. Bobby tells me to stay on the seat and for some reason I was thrown off of it like someone being shot out of a cannon and landed on the ground.

Everyone was looking at me like why did you do that? Even Bobby had this confused look on his face like how did she do that? I really don’t know how I did it but I flew off of it.

Now my name is Billy Blastoff. Apparently when Bobby was in the army there was a guy who couldn’t handle it when the jeep went on a tilt and he would jump right out of the jeep headphones and all when it went on a slant and everyone started calling him Billy Blastoff. Now it’s my name too.

I personally don’t see the humour at all. I don’t remember jumping off just flying off and landing on the ground. Who knows maybe my angels picked me up and put me down.

Ok so maybe it’s a little funny as no harm was done and sure I made him feel as bad as I could under the circumstances right? Who wouldn’t.

Now I’m being nagged to get back on or I won’t go on again. Whose idea was this anyway? Drat it was mine.

Quote for you which I don’t quite understand but it seems to fit in this crazy blog:

“The knack of flying is learning how to throw yourself at the ground and miss.” Douglas Adam.

Until we meet again, Billy Blastoff (aka Sharon)

Moving and Whining.

August 16th, 2008 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Hello my Friends. How are you on this wonderful day? Welcome. I have to warn you on this one I’m going to whine a bit.

The last few weeks I have had the pleasure (not) of moving my children out of a four bedroom house into a storage unit. A lot of the stuff was mine too. Why is it that moving is so traumatic? You would think at the end it would be freeing and wonderful and a looking forward to new adventures but it is just plain terrible. It sends my emotions into a tailspin.

Maybe it is in my outlook on moving or something.

It didn’t help that my two grandchildren blueberry and hazel (two bengal cats) had to find temporary homes until everyone got settled. I did find a lady and all night I was thinking I abandoned my grandchildren. It was an awful feeling. Our two dogs would have had them for breakfast so they couldn’t come here.

It did get me thinking through. I just have way too much “stuff”. Do we really need all this stuff. We just use a small amount of clothes and even though the little “diddly” stuff is fun to look at do we really need it?

I have a friend and she said the best advice my sister ever gave her is to “get rid of anything you don’t use daily”. My sister is great. She has nothing in her house in excess of what she needs. She has one coffee table that opens up into a display case and she puts a little item she bought from her many adventures for her pleasure and few frames and that’s it. Whenever Bobby says let’s buy this for your sister I say “She doesn’t like stuff”.

I started thinking when packing with the kids what would happen if I died tomorrow who would have to go through all my stuff. It would be a nightmare and even though I consider some things valuable I don’t think anyone is going to have the patience to go through everything and sell them. It would be such a burden. The only person who would benefit would be 1-800-junk!

In my mundane job we have a saying “When in doubt, take it out.” and that is going to be my new motto at home to get me clearing out stuff “When in doubt, THROW it out.” (Well or donate it or sell it or whatever. – Hey maybe that’s my downfall? Hmm, thinking here.)
What do we really need anyway. A computer, kitchen stuff, clothes to get you through the week, a comfy bed, tv. Do I need papers from 10 years ago? no Do I need every little funny “thing” I picked up along the way? no Do I need every book I have ever read in my life? no My Raggedy Anne collection? of course I need that.

I know I will never be the “zen” type who can live with no closets and have everything perfect and white but hey I can unload some of this stuff from my life. Who knows maybe it will free things up and I will proceed along my path with lightening speed and ease.

Onward and Upward as I always say.

So that’s my whining for today.

Here’s my quote (just for the record I don’t hate my job. I bless it as it pays my bills.):

“…..Advertising has these people chasing cars and clothes they don’t need. Generations have been working in jobs they hate, just so they can buy what they don’t really need. ” ~Chuck Palahniuk, Fight Club

Until we meet again, Sharon

P.S. Next time I will be more positive and uplifting, I promise.

Ahhhh Acupuncture.

August 08th, 2008 | Category: Gems Along the Way,Musings by Sharon

The TPC Blog welcomes you back.

I wanted to tell you about my exciting adventure. I finally went and had acupuncture done.

I’ve always wanted to go but never had the guts. Finally I made the big decision.

The needles were nothing but the experience was amazing.

I went to Debbie at the Spiral Turtle in Keswick. She just oozes healing energy so I knew I was in good hands.

You lie down on the table and she puts the needles in and she said that I would feel the energy go around my body. I had my doubts as I thought I would feel nothing then she put the needles in this spot above my ankle and it started. It was the weirdest thing. It was little rivers of energy starting at my feet and then it starts swirling all over me. It went up and slowing went all through my body. I remember it swirling around my third eye and under my jaw and teeth. It was beautiful. It felt so good.

The needles which I could not feel going in would all of a sudden heat up at different times. It didn’t hurt but it was odd.

I totally loved it and I’m going again as soon as I can. You should try it!

She does face lift Acupuncture too. I might try it. If I do I will post before and after pictures on the blog and you can judge for yourself. I always wanted to do a before and after picture.

Quote for you.

“When health is absent Wisdom cannot reveal itself, Art cannot become manifest, Strength cannot be exerted, Wealth is useless and Reason is powerless.”

-Herophilies, 300 B.C.

(Whoa eh?)

It’s an 888 Day Today. August 8, 2008

August 08th, 2008 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Hi Everyone.

Just a quick note.

Well today we welcome 888. August 8, 2008. It’s kind of cool isn’t it.

Glynis McCant has a whole message on the number 8 on her site. When I read her book I put a number 8 in my wallet for luck.

To celebrate I think I’m going to play pick 3 “888”. You never know.

Here’s a funny quote for you:

“If you really want something in this life you have to work for it. Now quiet, they’re about to announce the lottery numbers.” Homer Simpson.

Have a fun 888 day and may luck and abundance follow you everywhere today and everyday.

Until we meet again, Sharon

P.S. Ok so 888 didn’t come up but that’s ok. It was fun trying.

How do Clematis’ Do that?

August 03rd, 2008 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Hello Everyone. Welcome to the TPC Blog.

I have never had much luck with gardening. I think I’m the worst Taurus who every existed. I just don’t like getting dirt under my nails. It creeps me out.

I usually only plant a lavender for luck, my gold pot of marigolds for abundance near the front door and my two geranium baskets for protection (no I am not a witch). This year my son helped me plant a really cute garden in the front. It’s not a wow garden but it’s my little garden. It is looking mighty good too because of all the rain. Last years’ garden experiment didn’t fair so well. It kind of died and shriveled up.

The front of our house needs a good paint job and both of us being too busy (or lazy) we haven’t been able to get to it. So I thought I would grow some Clematis up the lattice (that sounds a bit sexy doesn’t it?) to hide the peeling paint. I love Clematis. There is something about them.

So I started from seeds (my sister said are you sure they aren’t morning glories, I’ve never heard of anyone starting Clematis from seed. I will keep you posted and then put another reason why I’m confused I’m a Taurus).

I was going to just throw them in the garden and my son said no I have to germinate them. He said just put a paper towel and water and in a few days they will sprout. Not having any paper towel available I used toilet paper. I know, I know. It seemed like a good idea at the time.

Obviously (to most not me) the toilet paper all shredded and I had a seed and toilet paper mess. They did somehow in all this sprout though. Nature is just so persistent isn’t it.

I went out with my little sprouts and started with a hole, a seed, a hole, a seed. Then getting quite bored with the whole thing as patience isn’t my strong point I kind of dug a big hole and threw the seeds and you guessed it the toilet paper in too. I was certain my Clematis growing was now a thing of the past but I guess with all the rain somehow it started growing and growing beautifully!

The best part about watching it is when the vines come up they search for somewhere to hang on to. I’m thinking how is that possible? How does the plant know which way to go? It didn’t go towards the street it went back 8 inches towards the lattice. Then when it grabs onto it all of them start doing it. It’s like a creepy sci fi movie.

How does it know to do this? Isn’t it the weirdest thing?

I really think we should learn from these plants. If it’s so easy for them to find their way why is it so hard for us sometimes when we have everything available to us?

I don’t have any flowers yet but I look every day in wonder. My husband is sick of (I can tell by the look) every time we go out my big conversation about “I don’t get it” how do they know how to find their way? How do they do that? I know he’s thinking something about my blond hair with that look too.

So once again, like everything I anxiously wait for, I just have to wait for my flowers especially to see if I have Clematis or morning glories. Not that I would know the difference.

Here’s a quote for today:

“Patience is power; with time and patience the mulberry leaf becomes silk.”Chinese Proverb

First of the Month Ritual

August 01st, 2008 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Hello Everyone. Welcome to the TPC Blog. I hope life is treating you kindly.

I love the first of the month for some reason and I have these funny little things I do and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Firstly (and Bobby is in on this one too) we say “White Rabbit” before we say any other words when we get up for luck. This is the strangest thing and we are not sure where it came from. Ok, just wait a minute and I’ll go look on the computer for this be right back.

Ok, I looked it up and apparently it is from long time ago and it is to bring luck throughout the month. One article said its to get rid of witches. Now that’s not good there goes a good percentage of my friends. Yikes.

I just feel better when I do it. Call it superstition.

So my next ritual is to check my horoscope for the month. I found the most amazing free horoscope and if you don’t go on make sure you give it a go. It’s great. Sometimes its a little late but hey its free and a little patience never hurt anyone. Here’s the astrologyzone site. I think there is some amazing astrological stuff going on this month too. Actually today is a new moon.

I always look forward to receiving my Astrologers’ monthly newsletter. It is so delightful. To get on the mailing list you can email me and I will send to her.

I also try and make some goals for the month or add something to my vision board. It’s not good to go through life without any focus is it? You have to ask for things or the Universe can’t jump in for us.

If anyone else has some exciting things they do make sure you write in so I can share them with the readings of the TPC Blog.

Today’s quote for you:

“Either write something worth reading or do something worth writing.” Benjamin Franklin

Until we meet again, Sharon
