Our Date Day

March 20th, 2010 | Category: In the Kitchen with Sharon,Musings by Sharon

Good Morning Everyone. It’s very early on Saturday morning. I had a bit of a nightmare so I’m up and about. I don’t want to go back to bed as I don’t want it to pick up where I left off. It was a troubling sort of dream. Probably happened because we went to see Alice in Wonderland last night or we were watching Fringe before bed. I was trying to get through this little hole and I was too big. Maybe its the fear of gaining back the weight I lost. Who knows. Where is Carl Jung when you need him.

My husband and I had a date day yesterday. We went for breakfast, then walked around Port Perry and went in all the stores, had lunch at the Fish ‘n Chip place on main street, went to Hanks the bakery (yum), then we came home watched a little TV and then went to see Alice in Wonderful in 3D with popcorn  (hey I think I know why I didn’t fit in the hole in my dream because I ate so much yesterday).

I so loved the movie. It was great. I want to go again and sit more up front to get the full effect of the 3D. I think we were a little too far back and off to the side. We love the seats with the bars in front as no one is in front of you and you can put up your feet. When we went to see Avatar we were right up front (and I mean the front row) and it was like we were in the movie ourselves. It was great. A little hard on the neck but great.

Johnny Depp was too cute in it. I think my favorite character though was the rabbit. I do love the caterpillar though too.

The person they casted for Alice is so beautiful. The white queen too was great. I loved the way she held her hands.  It will be a timeless classic I’m sure.

So on our date when we were in Port Perry I found something I have been waiting to come to Canada for forever. Yes of course its a gadget. As you know we have a Keurig coffee machine which is the best thing ever (no more Tim’s) and there is this little gadget to go with it that makes the foam for on top of your coffee. They only had it in the US and I’ve wanted it for forever.

(As Bobby is always so generous on our date days (well always really) he got it for me. I did get a mini  lecture on the way home about all the other gadgets in the cupboards but I reminded him of how much we love the Keurig which I had to convince him of before that we cannot live without now. All was forgiven. If we had of gone a couple of times for fuzzy Starbucks it would have cost the same anyway. This is forever.)

I continue here… I never had much luck with the hand held ones but this is different. It’s like a miniature little kettle and you add your skim milk, push the button and you get wonderful creamy hot milk and if you add the little frother thing you get foam.

No more cream which is sinfully fattening. The foam stays too. It’s perfect. Me and my gadgets.

We got it at Tweed and Hickory in Port Perry. See it here. It’s a great store. The women that work there are so funky and fun. Actually Port Perry is having a Diva Night on April 23rd (2010) so it is a great time to go. I always lose Bobby for a while when he goes in this store as he tries to tell everyone thinking of buying a Keurig machine how great they are. He must sell like 5 machines for them every time we visit.

No Pain No Gain

March 13th, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Good Morning Dear Blog Friends. How are you today? Today I woke up feeling like I was on the verge of something new and exciting.

It’s  not starting out that way though.

This morning I hinted to my husband that I might want to start running with him. Now he did 30 km for fun yesterday so I don’t mean that kind of running but just around the block or so. I haven’t figured out yet if I just want the cool running shoes or I really want to do it. Time will tell on that one.

Thinking I should start thinking about exercise last week I came across this box that my friend Kaleigh gave me when she was clearing out stuff. It is an Ab slide. Now when I opened I don’t think she used it much as it was still in its packaging and I had to put it together. I’m not judging at all because it has sat in our house for a year already too. After what happened to me though I’m kind of glad she didn’t use it.

This morning I was about to jump in the shower when I spotted it. So I put down a pillow for my knees on the carpet and tried to use it. I’m sure it wasn’t pretty as I was naked but no one was home so no harm. I got in the groove…once….twice…three times then all hell broke loose. Somehow the silly thing got stuck when I tried to push it and I went flying over it with the momentum of my push and my face went smack into the carpet, my glasses went flying and my right cheek took the brunt of it making a huge rug burn.

Once I realized what happened and the shock wore off I started to laugh hysterically at how funny the whole situation was. All I could think about as I was rolling on the ground laughing like a mad woman was “you really have to stop asking for blog material”.

I didn’t look at my face as I was a little nervous so I had my shower and then looked in the mirror. Oh my there is a big scratch on my face and a red mark down it from the rug. I’m thinking I have some “splaining” to do when my husband gets home and the funny part is he will totally believe me as funny things happen to me all the time. (Since confirmed he said “you look like the outlaw Josey Wales”.)

So  that’s my exercise for the day. Who invents these things? Maybe they have a little video camera in them that activates on use and they all sit around and watch them. I was thinking though if I had a camera on me, and of course I was dressed, that clumpsy mishap of mine would have made me millions on YouTube.

I knew there was going to be trouble in the karma department when I let out a giggle when the lady went flying off the treadmill on The Biggest Loser.

Fringe

March 09th, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon,Ponderings

Good Evening Dear Friends. Welcome to The Psychic Cottage Blog.

What’s new in your world? I hope you are having fun.

For our anniversary I bought my husband a copy of the First Season of Fringe.

It is so amazing. We totally devoured it.

I’m in love with Walter. He says the best things that make me smile especially when he makes me question our existence here.

Sometimes I think what if our existence here is like a micro second and when we get back to our energy self we say ok I’ll go down again this time I’ll do this or that. To us the existence is 80 or so years. A long time that we have created. Geez you have to wonder sometimes don’t you?

With this “micro second” way of thinking though its hard to get in the thick of it and take things too seriously.

So that’s it I just wanted to tell you that we LOVE Fringe and if you haven’t had a chance to see it check it out. It’s a little “gooey” at times for sure but the lines they use keep you laughing and questioning things.

Quote for you of one of my favourite lines on Fringe:

“Peter: Are you sure?
Walter: My boy, I’m not even sure that we exist on the same plane of consciousness, but yes, I believe so.”

La Cucina, Bowmanville

March 07th, 2010 | Category: Gems Along the Way,Musings by Sharon

Welcome to The Psychic Cottage Blog.

Today is a fabulous day for many reasons. One Bobby is off doing his first l/2 Marathon for which I am very proud and two the Weather is like totally awesome. Sometimes life is just so good I have to pinch myself.

I have to tell you about this amazing little restaurant in Bowmanville. It’s called La Cucina at 9 King Street East in Bowmanville.

I always heard  Marie, the owner of “Under the Toad Stool” and Jenny from “City Cottage” always talking about La Cucina for lunch. Well now I know why, it is so yummy!

Every time I go to the shop Bobby is like are you picking up food from La Cucina? I’m not sure what I would do if I was there every day. I think I would gain all the weight back I lost.

The best part is that the portions are large so it is kind of a two day meal. For me anyway. The first time I got it I had lots extra and I usually share with the puppies but even though they had this look of “pleeeassseee” there was no way I was sharing this with them. I’m like I don’t think so. I almost like eating it over two days as then I get to experience it twice.

The owners are a lovely couple. They talk to you about life while they make everything up. It’s very magical really.  You know how I love when someone has found their passion and this couple surely have.

All the ingredients taste so fresh and wonderful. I believe even the bread is home made by them that you get with your meal.

They are closed Sunday’s until Summer I think which is probably a good thing as this blog is making me really hungry.

I believe they do catering too. I can only imagine the possibilities on this one. Maybe if I bring a lasagna from them I won’t be asked to bring water next time (I’ll save that story for another blog).

So that’s it. For the lovely couple who own La Cucina thank you for being you. Success looks good on you.

Just Brilliant!

March 03rd, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Welcome dear Friends to The Psychic Cottage Blog. I’m so happy you could come visit.

I found out about something today that is just so brilliant.

Someone told me about this bank that is offering a very unique way of saving. What happens is every time you swipe your card to buy something it puts money in your savings account. Hello? Is that not the best idea you have ever heard of.

I’m not talking about the savings really as much as the switch in our thinking and the law of attraction in action.

When we spend we are thinking (I don’t care who you are) of something going “out” of your account. It doesn’t matter if there are millions in there or you are in the negative you are still spending. Our brains and emotions are thinking of something coming out.

When this idea happens every time you swipe or spend or whatever your brain switches to saving and all the good things that go with that.

It’s green too which is thinking positive in the money department. (Oh I wasn’t going to mention the bank and now you know who it is.)

OO la la. Is that no so cool? I love it. Way to go Bank. I wonder if they were even thinking about the impact on the Universe when they did it.

Even though I don’t bank there I think I’m going to get an account. Woo hoo!

Where’s our Noni Juice

March 02nd, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon,whining

Hello Everyone. How are you? Isn’t today wonderful? God is good.

Have you ever tried Noni Juice? It is amazing stuff. You don’t know how amazing until you run out of it and after a few days you start feeling like the magic is out of your step and everything is just harder then it used to be.

We are in that place as our supplier stopped supplying and we are waiting for it to arrive from the company as we had to order it ourselves.

I can’t explain but when I’m taking my little ounce a day I can accomplish anything. I literally do not stop ever and I’m always excited to finish something and start something new but without my Noni I feel like resting a lot.  I’m tired and cranky. When I have my Noni I feel at peace.

It allows me to be Pollyanna. Kind of like this:

“In my world, everyone’s a pony and they all eat rainbows and poop butterflies!” Dr. Seuss

Where or where is our Noni Juice?

So that’s it just wanted to complain a bit to you. Sorry.

Push or Pull

March 01st, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon,Now that's Peculiar.,Ponderings

Hello Dear Friends. How are you? Oh its getting warmer by the day I’m thinking spring is coming real soon!

I have been pondering something lately. We have a door on the kitchen of our office at work and it is a clear door and you can either push it or pull it depending on what you feel like doing.

It has always intrigued me that some people pull  it and some people push it when going in or out. I always pulled it until I realized it went both ways and then I’m a total push girl. Pushing is easy to do. You can even use your butt if you have your hands full of coffee or tea or whatever.

Pulling is hard. It takes effort.

I wanted to ask people who pull what kind of people they are? Is life easy or hard for them? I wanted to take a poll (pardon the sort of pun – poll/pull)

Where I’m going with this is that life is kind of like that. Once you figure out that it’s easier to get in the zone and go with the flow life gets easy. Of course there are days we still pull but I’m thinking I want to push to keep my hands free to catch the many miracles coming when I ease through life.

Holy Cow is that a Rib?

February 27th, 2010 | Category: Musings by Sharon

Good afternoon Everyone. How are you this delicious day the Universe provided for us to use as we see fit?

As you all know from my many blogs I went a while ago to get hypnosis for weight loss from Dr. Angelface (not his real name).

So this morning I was going to the shower and looked in the mirror and my eye caught something weird. I lifted my boobs (not a word out of you) and lo and behold I saw……….ribs. Ok they weren’t a six pack or anything (my sister mentioned after reading this that a six pack is really the muscles not the ribs which makes me laugh hysterically that I didn’t think about this) but they were there. I really haven’t seen my ribs since the dawn of time so this was a bit of a shocker I tell you.

The weight loss didn’t happen over night. I’ve lost a total of 30 pds so far but I haven’t craved food since getting it done. It really is a miracle. It’s such a nice feeling not to have to worry about this part of my life anymore.

It starts out with little changes. My double double teas and coffee that I used to drink all day every day switched to my craving of green tea with no milk or sugar. Sugary things started to gross me out. Things that I would crave like chocolate and candy were no longer an issue. I could have one and be real happy if I wanted one which I really didn’t.

So I have to tell you that God is good and so is Dr. Angelace.

Just a reminder that the newsletter is coming out shortly. If you haven’t signed up just go to the right of this blog and put in your email.
